Historical Background

I read an article earlier this week that cited lower divorce rates in millenials. The article referenced research into the trends that found that millenials are waiting longer to get married, which they believe is contributing to the lower divorce rate. The best data source for this was the United States Census, and I really like playing with Census data, so here we are.

We're unlikely be able to prove that later marriages are contributing to lower divorce rates, but there are sure to be some insights in the data. Data Source

This week's dataset comes from the U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey Estimates. Please be sure to cite the source on your viz.

Data Notes

The column Estimated Population was calculated by multiplying the estimated total population for the gender/age group with that gender/age group's estimated percentage. The values are approximate, and fall within the stated margin of error.
